Customising

For all those Pullip collectors out there there is no need to rush when re-painting your babies faces. Trust me it's taken me awhile to figure out how I do face ups which kinda sounds ridiculous now, but when you become a customiser you'll know what I mean. In everything you do there is always some little difference when you try to copy someone else, because we are all unique, and that reflects in everything we do.
So, what I'm trying to say is it takes time to get the "perfect" face for your babies when starting off, but eventually you do get the hang of things.

So here are few tips to customising:

1. Always use ACRYLIC paints and chalk PASTEL and I'm pretty sure most colouring pencils (I'm not also certain about charcoal pencills or sketching pencils) will do perfectly.
2. Use a sealent  not hair-spray unless you want a shiny, vibrant face
3. Use small thin brushes for painting and a (not-so) thick, short brush for using with pastels and always clean your brushes after use
4. Sharpen your pencils before use
5. Only seal the areas that you have peniciled or painted
6. Pastels are a big NO-NO to seal as is tends to darken discolour when you want a natural shading effect

Now, these tips are not my intentions to be guidelines for I have had experiences that I wouldn't want anyone else to suffer. There are endless possibilities to what your Pullips can end up and they're all beautiful in their own and unique way, just like all customisers.

Introduction to my Blog

Introducing Kiyumi she arrived in the mail around April and I was so excited when I was unboxing her like I could scream at the front of my house, which I couldn't because it was at the middle of the night. The day after I took photos with my awesome camera which sadly isn't an SLR but it still takes great pictures which you will soon find out. The moment I got her I also started thinking about customising her, on her birthday but why wait. So I bought everything I need which did have a few setbacks and I started working on her face :)

Here we have a Pullip Chelsea and I have renamed her Kiyumi (Should've been Ki"yo"mi but there was a typo when my friend suggested it) which simpy means "Pure Beauty" in Japanese.

She is a sweet girl who loves to be cheeky. She doesn't mean to make friends as everyone simply loves her. As I only have 1 Pullip at the moment I will be making a room on my shelf soon, more details on that soon ^_^.

2nd and 3rd time I sed the kept the same lips but changing the eyes and eyebrows with paint and pencil

4th time I painted everything except the eye-shadow

5th time I painted everything except the eye-shadow and eyebrows

6th time I have finally acheived a more "natural" look with pastels with most of the face and pencil for eyeliner

Finally we have her face up till now which I quite like at the moment. Wouldn't you agree that this is A LOT better than my previous  ones? I think so too :)
